This is not my typical blog solely about my jewelry…So, what a roller coaster this year has been for me! It is my senior year at ASU and I will finish with a bachelor degree in Marketing this December. I am excited to be done and am looking forward to all of the options and opportunities that await me. I am ready for the future and to explore something new. I will always continue building, Cassy’s Sassy Jewelry, but I definitely want to try something more in the realm of marketing and business as well. I am fortunate enough to have all the support around me. My best friend came with me to tour the GIA campus in Carlsbad and I realized it just wasn’t for me. We both didn’t think it was the correct fit for what I want to do. As much as it may help my jewelry career, I can’t see myself doing school again-and I feel that my true niche is the marketing avenue rather than the creation and artistic side of the business. The school specializes in the manufacturing process and the study of gems, and I did have some friends that really enjoyed it. I do have some fresh ideas in the making and I look forward to my next endeavor. Thanks for all of the encouragement and support, I am so blessed to have amazing clients and friends! My next show will be at Barbarella’s restaurant in La Jolla, where my fellow designer and friend Lindsey will be showcasing our jewelry. More details to come!!

Redesigned Website!

I am trying to get into blogging a bit more to keep you all updated on news and upcoming events! First off, I am so excited about my website being completely redesigned with all my new collections. Well, it was a pretty tough semester but I will say that I’m one step closer to graduating!! Fall 2011 will be my last semester as a marketing student at ASU. I then plan on attending GIA next spring to get my graduate gemologist degree to help further my career in jewelry design. I’ve only heard amazing things about all the programs and can’t wait to tour the school sometime in the next couple of months. This summer I am completely redesigning my website with exciting new collections and press! Keep on the lookout, it should be done at the end of June. I am going to the JCK in Las Vegas next month to check out all the latest in the industry and can’t wait to catch up with some colleagues and friends. This show is so inpsiring and there is always so much to see and do in Vegas! Looking forward to a photoshoot this week with Jennifer Stewart, check out her facebook fan page…she is amazing! Spring has almost Sprung!

So, last Thursday night I was up until 4 o’clock AM making jewelry…crazy right?! My best friend says that between 1-3 o’clock in the morning is her creative time too, so I don’t feel so insane. But, I was exhausted the next day to say the least. I have been designing a ton of new looks for this season. My new favorite necklaces are part of my wire wrapped pearl collection. Basically, they are layered pearls with an off centered pave crystal ball, that you are able to wear many ways and lengths. These necklaces have a very classic style, and are available in gorgeous light pink shades, as well as gray and white. My next trunk show will be on Thursday, April 7th from 5-8pm. Whoo have the holidays flew by us! I cannot believe it’s already the middle of February in 2011. I love this month for so many reasons, mostly because the weather starts to change and I can bust out my spring dresses. But, also because Tucson holds the biggest gem and jewelry show in the country two weeks during February! Of course I went down there several times and did some damage. I got so inspired by all the new looks for the upcoming season and have already made about thirty new pieces for my collections. This spring we are going to be seeing a lot of bold colors including navy, yellow, and hot pink. Big and small pearls are being layered and worn with funky vintage style pendants, and crosses are all the rage too-good thing I always have a lot of those! I was recently organizing the bookshelf in my office, which is actually full of fashion magazines. So therefore, let’s call it my magazine shelf . I was flipping through old Women’s Wear Daily and Neiman Marcus catalogs when I
realized that I was seeing the same styles that are in stores now. I feel like fashion is a never-ending cycle of trends that just continues on and on. For instance, in a 2007 issue of Vogue I saw leopard coats, sequin dresses, and fur collars. I just recently talked about these upcoming trends in my previous blog reporting the popularity they have this season. I guess there are pros and cons to reoccurring trends. Having timeless pieces in your wardrobe, that’s a plus right? Yet, if you can’t get rid of anything without feeling guilty, you could have never ending clutter in your closet! With so many talented designers and versatility in fashion, what is the next huge thing going to be?

A few weeks ago I took my annual trip to New York to meet with some colleagues and attend a couple shows. Amidst the typical hustle and bustle of the city, I was able to stir up some great inspiration for my latest collections. I saw plenty of fur, feathers, sequins, and just fierce fun! Some of our favorite past times are still making huge comebacks for example, bold animal prints! Of course we all love leather, which made me anxious to design my new necklaces with patent leather flowers. These necklaces are great additions to a simple dress to really spice up your look. I noticed gorgeous jewel tones everywhere including dark purple and emerald greens that are shown to be very popular in clothing and accessories for this season. Pearls are classic and timeless, yet now I have designed some necklaces with layered pearls incorporated with chain. It is such an updated look that puts a twist to your common pearl necklace. Be always fashionable this season with these many options.
